Focus of the program:
In changing scenarios of extreme events, fluvial floods, inundation due to the sudden breach of dams and embankments, scouring of bridge piers and hydraulic structures are some of the growing concerns in hydraulic engineering. Though these are global problems, accurate prediction of these disasters and their impact remains a major challenge. Physical models are the successful tools to study the performance of hydraulic structures under extreme scenarios. Nevertheless, such studies are costly and laborious. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies complement the physical modelling studies by providing quantitative predictions of fluid flow phenomenon. During this 5 days program experts in the domain of hydraulic modelling, will be introducing physical models to study the fluid flow issues related to hydraulic structures, CFD modelling for flood simulations, scouring and dam breach analysis. The programs will focus on the fundamentals of modelling and relevant case studies.
The program will be conducted offline in the BMSCE campus from April 10 th -15 th . The training includes lectures, case studies, software demonstrations scheduled from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Resource Persons:
Resource persons for the program include Professional Engineers from the Water resources Department (Govt. Karnataka), Scientists from CWPRS, and Academicians working in the areas of physical and CFD modelling in applied hydraulics.
Who can attend?
Faculty of Engineering, Practicing Engineers, R&D Personnel, and Research Scholars interested in the domain of flood modelling can attend the program. Certificates will be provided for all the participants.

Mode of Payment: Registration fee for the program is Rs. 500/- for participants from academic institutions and Rs. 1000/- for participants from industry.
